According to Counterpoint Research, iPhone XR was the top-selling smartphone one in the third quarter of 2019. This phone captured 3 per cent of the global smartphone market. Since its launch, iPhone XR has been among the top-selling smartphones. This device has contributed to more than a quarter of the total sales made by Apple Inc. in Q3 of 2019. It is the bestselling Apple product across the globe.
One of the key reasons why Apple managed to sell many copies of the iPhone XR is because it lowered its price in big markets like India and China. In Kenya, the iPhone XR 64GB variant is currently retailing at around KSh.70,000. The drop in price led to an increase in demand.
Apple’s iPhone 11 is also on the list. This phone managed to get to position 5 even though it was launched in the same quarter.
Samsung Galaxy A10 was second on the list of top-selling smartphones in the third quarter of 2019. For the longer part of 2019, the Galaxy A10 was the cheapest Samsung device in Kenya. However, it has now been replaced by the Samsung Galaxy A10s – a phone with slightly better features at roughly the same price.
There are three Samsung devices in the list, all from the new Galaxy A series. Samsung launched this series at the beginning of the year after discontinuing the J series. Phones in this series have great features and come with attractive price tags. Interestingly, no Samsung flagship is featured on the list.
Oppo, one of the fastest-growing Chinese brands, had three phones on the list. Devices from its A-series seem to be doing very well in China and other regions across the world. The three Oppo phones in the list include Oppo A9, Oppo A5 and Oppo A5s.
Huawei closed the list with the Huawei P30.
