Over the recent past, Huawei has been busy updating devices to EMUI 9.1. The new UI release is based on Android 9, just like the previous release but with a lot of new features. One of the most popular Huawei budget devices in Kenya, the Huawei Y6 Prime 2019 will be receiving the EMUI 9.1 update.
This phone was supposed to receive this update in July but the Chinese tech giant changed the date to August. The update will be rolled out over the air. It will take some time before it reaches all Huawei Y6 Prime 2019 units.
The Y6 Prime 2019 has been and still remains one of the most popular phones below 15k in Kenya. This is obviously because it has good specs and a very attractive price. At the time of writing, this phone’s price was around KSh. 12,500. Below is a summary of its specifications:
- 6.09 inches display
- MediaTek Helio A22 processor
- 3GB of RAM
- 32GB onboard storage space
- Android v9.0 Pie
- Single rear camera – 13 megapixels
- Single front camera – 8 megapixels
- 4G support
- 3020mAh battery
The Y6 Prime 2019 comes in two colors: Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black.
If you are planning to buy this device, you should be prepared to download a 2.35GB download.
You should check for the update manually if you haven’t received any notification. You can do this by going to your phone’s settings – system – software updates – check for updates. If the update is available, you will be asked whether you want to download it.
If you don’t find the update in the settings, Huawei recommends that you can also update it via the HiCare App.
