Apple introduced the first phone with a notch in 2017. The notch then became one of the most controversial design trends over the past few years. We then moved from trapezoidal notches to waterdrop (dewdrop) notches. In no time, manufacturers moved to pop-up cameras after the Oppo Find X was introduced. All these new design trends aim to maximize the screen area.
Samsung A8s then introduced the punch hole front camera, the design that Samsung used in its latest flagships. But just as we were getting used to phones with punch-hole cameras, Oppo seems to be steps ahead after its VP shared a video of a device with an in screen front camera.
Brian Shen, Oppo’s VP shared a 15 seconds video showcasing the phone today. In the video, the user is seen launching the camera app and taking a few shots.
There is limited information about this new development, and Oppo does not reveal when the device will be released. However, Shen said that the quality of images captured by such cameras is inferior to those captured by the regular selfie camera. He acknowledged that it will take some time to make perfect in-screen selfie cameras.
