The Galaxy Fold was supposed to be the first ever foldable phone. But Samsung had to postpone its launch as well as recall the review units because of the folding mechanism problems reported by some reviewers. The Korean tech giant had promised to announce a release date soon but it has now delayed the launch indefinitely.

People who had pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Fold received emails from the company that promised that they receive shipping information soon and that Samsung is making progress as far as the foldable phone is concerned. Below is a copy of the email message;

All pre-orders will be canceled automatically by the end of this month, unless the company manages to ship the Galaxy Fold by then (which is highly unlikely) or if the buyers request otherwise.  Pre-order price was set at USD 1980 which translates to around KSh. 200,000.

It seems Huawei might beat Samsung to become the company that made the first ever foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X.
